On shore, Guybrush meets up with Elaine and proposes with the ring he found. Good luck dealing with that one, Threepwood. Guybrush turned his love Elaine into gold. Guybrush scrambles into LeChuckвЂ™s treasure hold where he finds a huge diamond ring and uses it to cut the glass from a porthole, flooding the hold and allowing him to escape. The cannonball explodes, vaporizing LeChuck. A cutscene shows LeChuck about to use the voodoo cannonball, when GuybrushвЂ™s explosion rocks the ship and causes him to drop it. This propels him through the locked door of the hold. He then cuts the cannon restraint rope with a sword he finds among the flotsam, and fires the cannon. With Wally distraught on the floor, Guybrush uses the cannon to defeat LeChuckвЂ™s fleet of undead skeletons. Guybrush convinces Wally that heвЂ™s a failure as a pirate. Guybrush learns that LeChuckвЂ™s plan is to use his secret weapon, a voodoo cannonball, to kill Elaine in the belief that she will become his undead bride. Guybrush realizes this pirate is actually Wally, who says he was won over by LeChuckвЂ™s seminars and motivational talks. Guybrush is captive in the hold, guarded by the pirate Bloodnose, who is operating a cannon. Part I: The Demise of the Zombie Pirate LeChuck On seeing Guybrush, LeChuck blasts him out of the water and has him thrown in the hold. He inadvertently drifts into the middle of a battle in Plunder Island harbour between LeChuckвЂ™s army and a resistance headed by Elaine, who is rebuffing LeChuckвЂ™s advances. The game starts out with Guybrush adrift at sea in a bumper car, following the events at the finale of Monkey Island 2. Story Prologue The Evil Zombie Pirate LeChuck The game features two difficulty settings: the standard adventure, and a Mega Monkey mode featuring higher puzzle difficulty and puzzles not found in the other mode.

It picks up the story of Guybrush Threepwood following the events of Monkey Island 2, and follows his quest to reverse a curse he inadvertently places on his fiancГ©e, Elaine, turning her into a solid gold statue.

If you don't own it, buy it, whatever the cost! I will say though, that when I bought this copy off of ebay, it did not work properly running on a Windows XP operating system. While having two difficutly modes (normal and mega monkey), and perhaps having the most chalenging puzzles, it still takes me less time to complete than any of the other Monkey Islands. If I was going to give this game one weakness, it would be it's length. Dominic Armotto is the voice for Guybrush, and is probably my favorite voice actor ever. The voiceovers are great for the time, and it is also the first in the series to even have spoken dialogue.

Plus I love the caracature-like artistry that is found soley in Monkey Island 3. My personal favorite is 'Curse,' simply because it has the best 'witty reparte,' the most interesting storyline, and a cast a lovely characters, such as Murray the Talking Skeleton Head. well, okay, i was around 10 when I heard of it, but regardless, it is a fantastic series. I have been a Monkey Island Fan for my entire life.
